Nigel Farage McDonald's milkshake ban as police crack down on 'danger drink' at Edinburgh Brexit rally

Police ordered a McDonald's outlet near Nigel Farage sneaks into Edinburgh Brexit event and dodges protesters campaign rally to stop selling milkshakes or ice cream.

As hundreds of Brexit Party supporters and dozens of protesters arrived at Edinburgh's Corn Exchange for an EU elections rally, staff at the neighbouring McDonald's were told to not serve people certain products following a spate of dairy-based incidents involving right-wing politicians.

Printed signs saying: "We will not be selling milkshakes or ice creams tonight. This is due to a police request given recent events" were displayed on the windows and inside the fast food restaurant.

Police Scotland refused to comment but a member of staff, who did not want to be named, described the situation as "ridiculous".

Burger King managed to get in on the act with a cheeky tweet telling Scots they're "selling milkshakes all weekend. Have fun. Love BK."

It comes after Scottish comedian Ray Bradshaw urged people on Thursday to 'go and get their milkshake on' and buy one from a McDonald's near to the rally.

He wrote on Twitter: "Nigel Farage will be at The Corn Exchange tomorrow. Edinburgh go and get your milkshake on."

The comedian even helpfully provided a map showing the nearest McDonald's to the Corn Exchange.

Carl Benjamin - who is currently being investigated by police about vile rape comments made towards MP Jess Phillips - was at a public meeting in Cornwall when a protester tried to throw a drink over him.
