- Former Conservative MP Harvey Proctor, an anonymous Labour minister, and former justice secretary David Gauke condemned Mr Farage's comments, urging against public speculation during a police investigation.
- Assistant Chief Constable Matt Longman of Devon and Cornwall Police also appealed to the public to avoid speculation, stating it is unhelpful to the investigation and distressing for the family.
