Nicole Moudaber’s favourite tracks

The track I’ll be opening my next DJ set with
Nicole Moudaber: Don’t Talk To Me I’m Dancing

I’ve been playing this from my Breed EP. It’s a statement of intention for how I want the rest of the night to go. It starts out fairly minimal, letting the vocals stand out, and builds into a nice groove.

The track that currently gets the most rewinds
Alan Fitzpatrick: Love Siren

It’s become a standout track of this summer season thanks to the distinctive vocal and chords. The powerful bassline makes it an absolute peaktime staple.

The track I think has been unfairly slept on this year
Argy: Alfredo

Out on John Digweed’s Bedrock imprint, it’s such a beautiful track, with a stirring bassline and emotive, echoey synths. It didn’t get the attention it deserved.

The track I’d play to show off my eclectic tastes
La Tromba: Calaba Calabao

It’s an Afrobeat record with this Afro-jazz sound, which I’m all about. I would probably play it in one of my sunset sessions or an afterhours vibe.

The track I wish i’d signed to my label
George FitzGerald: Call It Love (If You Want To)

It’s got this amazing, mournful vocal on it over these echoing piano keys, such a nice deep record. Scuba gave me his remix on the weekend. It was magical.

The track I wish I’d never played
Loco Dice ft Chris Liebing: Keep It Low

I played this the other week on my radio show – it’s got a lot of “motherfucker”, “bitch”, all these words that you’re not allowed to say and it created a bit of a problem for my producer! But they managed to edit it. I love Chris Liebing, for me he is the epitome of techno. All the others sound so cheesy next to him.

The ideal festival track

It would have to be one of my new ones that I actually finished recently in the studio. It’s not out yet, but it’s so orchestral and amazing. It’s called Old Soul, Young But Not New – it’s mega!

The track that should have been a crossover hit
Nicole Moudaber & Skin: Someone Like You

It’s such a catchy, lovely tune and I think it should’ve crossed over, but you just never know.

The track I’d play at my funeral
Grace Jones: Slave To The Rhythm

It has to be this, so appropriate!

Nicole Moudaber plays Drumcode Halloween, Tobacco Dock, E1, followed by The Hydra & LWE present Drumcode After Dark, Studio Spaces, E1, both Saturday
