Nicole Kidman is in talks to join the cast of the new Wonder Woman movie, according to The Wrap.
The Oscar-winner is tipped to play a “high-ranking Amazonian warrior” in the debut solo film for the DC Comics superhero, who is due to be introduced in next March’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Israeli actor Gal Gadot has been cast as Wonder Woman, also known as Princess Diana of Themyscira.
Kidman would be a strong fit to play Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons, who is Wonder Woman’s mother in the comic books. The Australian actor, who is almost six foot tall, has a history in superhero movies, having starred as Dr Chase Meridian in 1995’s Batman Forever.
Wonder Woman, which is directed by Monster’s Patty Jenkins, is due in cinemas 23 June 2017. The film also stars Star Trek’s Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Wonder Woman’s traditional love interest.
Kidman is due to star in the suspense thriller The Silent Wife for director Adrian Lyne, and will next be seen on the big screen opposite Chiwetel Ejiofor and Julia Roberts in the Hollywood remake of the 2009 Argentine thriller The Secret in Their Eyes.
