Nicole Kidman has revealed she was left feeling “mortified” after she accidentally snubbed Rami Malek at this year’s Golden Globes.
Kidman made headlines after fans spotted Malek attempting to greet her on stage as she presented Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody with the Best Picture gong.
But she didn’t seem too keen on congratulating Malek, who plays the late Freddie Mercury, and turned away from him as he attempted to go in for a hug.
The Australian actress has since revealed the snub was completely accidental.
Speaking at the Critcis’ Choice Awards, Kidman told Entertainment Tonight: “We’re really good friends. I just did not feel his hand on my back.
“I love that man. He’s so gentle and softly spoken. He’s a darling. [We were] both in a bit of a daze. He sent me an email. I sent him an email, we were laughing, actually.”
The pair later proved there’s no bad blood between them as they were pictured laughing while embracing one another.
Kidman’s comments come after Malek was left red-faced after watching the cringe-worthy clip back on The Jimmy Kimmel show.
The American actor told Kimmel: “I’ve known her many years despite what it may seem from that video.
“I thought I could easily go up and say hi but in the moment like that… very awkward. I have a feeling this will haunting me on the Internet.”
Malek is also up for the Best Actor gong at this year’s BAFTAs for his portrayal of Mercury.
The drama landed a total of seven nominations ahead of the awards ceremony on February 10, including Outstanding British Film, Best Cinematography and Best Sound.
