Nicole Kidman ‘feels betrayed’ by Keith Urban as she files for divorce after 19 years of marriage

Nicole Kidman “feels very betrayed” by Keith Urban as she filed for divorce, bringing their 19-year marriage to an end.

The Oscar-winning actress, 58, officially submitted papers in Nashville on Tuesday, a day after news of their separation first emerged.

In the wake of the filing, it has been reported that Kidman has been left “devastated” by the split.

A source telling People: “Nicole's hurt and feels betrayed. It's devastating to her. She's shocked.”

On Monday both TMZ reported that Kidman “didn’t want” to split and the Oscar winner “has been fighting to save the marriage.”

The couple were last photographed together in June when they attended the FIFA Club World Cup in Nashville, following a red-carpet appearance at the Academy of Country Music Awards the previous month.

Reports claimed the pair have been living apart since the start of the summer.

“It really hasn’t been a secret in their circles that Keith and Nicole have been living apart for a while now,” one insider told People. “People close to Keith felt like the split was kind of inevitable.”

While their split came as a shock to many, reports suggested signs of strain surfaced months earlier.

Kidman and the country music star, who share two daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, had sparked speculation when only she marked their wedding anniversary publicly this year.

The Hollywood star, who also has two adopted children from her previous marriage to actor Tom Cruise, posted a photo with her husband, writing: “Happy Anniversary Baby”, while he responded with a single love heart emoji.

Unlike previous years, however, the singer did not share his own tribute on his feed for their 19th wedding anniversary.

In contrast, Urban had previously posted a romantic shot of the pair together on the beach to mark their 2023 anniversary, writing of his “forever” love for Nicole.

Kidman and Urban each launched their respective careers in Australia and hold dual US and Australian citizenship. They met in January 2005 at a Hollywood event promoting Australia, and married in June the following year in Sydney.

The actress earlier this month wrapped production on a sequel to the film Practical Magic with Sandra Bullock.

Meanwhile Urban has been on his High and Alive World tour since May in support of his 11th studio album, High.

The singer has shows scheduled through mid-October and the next stop scheduled for Thursday, in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

The Standard has contacted Nicole Kidman’s representative for comment.
