Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe were each other's surprise plane buddies on flight home for Christmas

A certain Qantas flight from Los Angeles was a joyous one recently, as close friends Nicole Kidman and Russell Crowe were coincidentally seatmates. The Australian actors both shared a happy selfie from their flight, in which they both grinned for the camera as Crowe called the flight a “pure gift.”

Crowe revealed that he had been flying out of Los Angeles airport for the holidays, when he discovered that he was seated next to the Big Little Lies actress. He posted a picture and wrote on Instagram, “Hey @qantas thanks for getting me home in time for Christmas out of the craziness that is LAX, and thanks for the pure gift of sitting me next to one of my favourite people in the universe.”

Kidman was similarly over the moon and shared the same picture, only the star proved she was a savvy Instagrammer as hers featured a filter.

Paying homage to their “30 years of friendship...and counting”, she wrote, “You never know who you’ll run into on your way home for Christmas ✈️ 🎄30 years of friendship.”

She also left two kisses at the end of her post.

Kidman has previously talked about her friendship with Crowe, with the pair both debating what actually happened the first time they met. According to Kidman, they both met at a house party she threw at her home in Sydney and she claimed Crowe did a “shoey” when he “drank champagne out of my shoe” in an interview with the Courier Mail.

Crowe, on the other hand, challenged that in the same interview and said, “I never did that. I stood behind you and you didn’t talk to me.”

Shoey or no shoey, Kidman and Crowe remain close friends. She told Courier Mail, “I have an enormous amount of love and affection for him because we have been friends literally our whole life.”
