Nicole Brown Simpson’s sister found Kim Kardashian’s ‘SNL’ joke about O.J. Simpson ‘beyond inappropriate’

Kim Kardashian’s joke about O.J. Simpson during her “Saturday Night Live” monologue didn’t go over well with Nicole Brown Simpson’s sister.

Tanya Brown described the joke as “beyond inappropriate and insensitive” in a statement to People, taking issue with Kardashian making a “stab” quip on last Saturday’s show.

Nicole Brown Simpson, who was married to O.J. for seven years, was fatally stabbed in 1994, with the longtime NFL star being acquitted after a highly publicized trial.

“If she and her family loved Nicole so much as they claimed, this was done in very poor taste,” Brown told People of Kardashian. “I think the taste of writers at SNL was beyond inappropriate and insensitive as was the reaction in the audience.”

Kardashian’s father, Robert Kardashian, was a defense attorney for O.J. during the trial.

“It’s because of him that I met my first Black person,” Kardashian said as the “SNL” host. “Wanna take a stab in the dark at who it was? I know it’s sort of weird to remember the first Black person you met, but O.J. does leave a mark, or several. Or none at all. I still don’t know.”

Simpson’s acquittal came in 1995. In 1997, he was found liable for the deaths of Brown Simpson and friend Ron Goldman in a civil trial.

“Regarding Kim, I believe everyone has a choice to control what they speak on,” Tanya Brown told People. “She easily could have said, ‘This is inappropriate and disrespectful to everyone! Not only for Nicole and Ron, but for all victims of domestic violence who were murdered by their significant others.”
