Nicolas Raskin to Rangers transfer latest as Ronny Deila tells Ibrox 'target' to make his mind up

Standard Liege boss Ronny Deila has told reported Rangers target Nicolas Raskin it's time to make a decision on his future.

It was claimed earlier this week that the 21-year-old midfielder had crossed Giovanni van Bronckhorst 's transfer radar. The Ibrox club have extra cash to spend before the window closes after beating PSV Eindhoven to book passage into the money-spinning Champions League group stage.

Former Celtic manager has now addressed Raskin's future, revealing that the young Belgian is thinking hard about his next move. The Norwegian coach has hinted he may be fighting a losing battle in his push to keep the player at Standard, but insisted while he has sympathy with his dilemma, the time had come to make a big call. Deila said: "At the moment, Nicolas is thinking a lot about his future. He's a boy who has charisma and personality. But his situation is complicated for him and for us, given the expiry of his contract in June 2023.

"To be honest, a 21-year-old player should not have to find himself in this situation. We are talking to him and he is honest with us about his position. He needs to make a decision about his future and we need that too."

The Belgian Under 21s star is an ever-present for Standard this season and made 29 appearances for his club last term. He signed from Gent three years ago, but could now be heading to the Scottish Premiership with reports in Belgium suggesting Rangers are preparing an offer, with Standard valuing him at £5 million.
