Nicolas Raskin sends Rangers 'continue the project' message as he hails fans for support over season

Nicolas Raskin has called on everyone connected with Rangers to get behind the project and continue on the journey toegether.

The Light Blues midfielder joined in January as part of a double transfer swoop that also brought Todd Cantwell north of the border. Both players have been key since stepping through the doors in Govan and have established themselves as fans' favourites and first choice starters for Michael Beale.

A big summer of transition is underway with Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent, Allan McGregor, Scott Arfield and Filip Helander departing the club. Kieran Dowell has moved in the opposite direction after penning a pre-contract from the Canaries and joins former team-mate Cantwell in Glasgow.

A number of fringe players could still leave while a host of new names will arrive in a busy summer as Rangers bid to end Celtic's dominance on the domestic game next season as well as reach the riches of the Champions League proper once again.

The Ibrox men ended the campaign on a high with a comfortable 3-0 win over St Mirren in Paisley with Raskin thanking the supporters for cheering them on in every single game and has called on everyone to unite for the big journey about to begin.

He wrote on Instagram: "Finishing up our season on a good note! Appreciate the support you fans gave us in every single match, let's continue the project next year together."

On the win over St Mirren, boss Beale said: “We changed things up a little bit tactically, playing Fashion Jr. and Rabbi [Matondo] a little bit wider and Todd [Cantwell] as a false nine.

“It was a great pass from Ridvan [Yilmaz] for the first goal. It’s the strangest carpool in the world, Ridvan and Fashion, and they’re bringing that friendship onto the pitch which I’m delighted with. The second half, Fashion threatened to do that earlier in the first half.

“He’s a bubbly character and he’ll keep going in there and getting goals. He’s scored a lot of goals and he’s been very effective since we came back into the club, and he’s had a couple of misses that he’ll want to improve on, but he keeps getting in there with the same enthusiasm so well done to him.

“It was also nice to get a goal from a set-piece because we’ve improved in that area, and it was nice for Antonio [Colak] as he’s had a tough six months through injury to score the last goal of the season.”
