Nicolas Raskin insists Rangers are 'not that far' off Celtic as gap disputed in firm trophy demand

Confident Nicolas Raskin has declared Rangers are "not that far" off Celtic as he insisted the club must claim silverware this season.

Michael Beale has one shot left at lifting silverware during his debut season as Ibrox boss as the Light Blues look to overcome Ange Postecoglou's side in the Scottish Cup semi-final and return to Hampden to face either Inverness or Falkirk to round off the campaign. The Scottish Premiership race was ended by Rangers' 3-2 defeat at Celtic Park earlier this month, with Celtic holding a 13 point lead at the top of the table going into the post split fixture list.

But Raskin insists the gap is not as wide as it appears on paper as he set his sights on his first trophy since arriving from Standard Liege in the January window. The Belgium U21 international reckons Rangers can take plenty of positives from their last showing in Glasgow's east end.

He told Sky Sports: "It's very important for two reasons. Rangers we need to win something for the season and it is our last chance, we also want to win against them.

"The last game we lost but we have another feeling, we are not that far from them. We had some chances, okay, they won, so now we focus even more on ourselves, and we go with a strong team and mentality, and go for it."
