Nicolas Pepe sends Instagram message to Wilfried Zaha that Arsenal supporters will love

Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe has taken to social media and thanked Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha.

The Gunners' record signing helped himself to a much needed goal whilst on international duty for the Ivory Coast over the weekend and he had the Eagles forward - a summer transfer target for the north London outfit - to thank.

Zaha showed some brilliant footwork to get past a couple of defenders in the box, before picking out Pepe who made no mistake from close range to make it 2-0 against DR Congo shortly before half-time.

As expected, the goal  got Arsenal fans talking, while Pepe added footage of the goal to his Instagram story after it had been uploaded by Corinne Pepe.

Shortly after Zaha responded to his international team-mate, with a message on Twitter which read: "You're welcome Nico."

That prompted a massive response from some Arsenal fans. Click here for the best responses.

And now the back and forth between the two wingers has continued on social media.

Pepe took to Instagram again and had a simple four-word message for Zaha.

"Thanks for the assist @wilfriedzaha," he wrote on Instagram.

Messages between the two players is likely to excite those Arsenal fans who are demanding a move for Zaha in the January transfer window.

It seemed that the Palace star was the Gunners' number one target during the summer, but a move failed to materialise and Pepe arrived from Lille for £72m.

But could Zaha be on the move in the new year?

Well, Palace legend John Salako is fearful that will be the case - although not to Arsenal or Everton who were also linked with Zaha in the summer.

"Of course [there's still concern he could leave in January]. I think Chelsea would probably be the best home for him after their ban," Salako told  LoveSportRadio last week.

"They've got a really exciting young side there, and Wilf could come in and add to that.

"He could well move there, but Arsenal could come back with the money too. Anything could happen!"
