Nicolas Pepe's possible next destination after Arsenal star makes major transfer decision

Nicolas Pepe is set to assess his options over the January transfer window following a lack of game time at Arsenal.

The Gunners winger was again an unused substitute in his side's 2-1 defeat to Everton on Monday night and football.london understands that the Ivorian wide man will now consider his options next month.

Pepe moved to Arsenal over two years ago for a club record fee of £72million, but the likes of Eddie Nketiah, who sees his contract at the Emirates Stadium expire at the end of the season, was picked ahead of him from the bench by Mikel Arteta against Everton.

Arteta's decision to bring Nketiah on instead highlights the situation with Pepe right now and perhaps a lack of trust from the Arsenal manager.

So, with Pepe's future in north London up in the air, where could the Ivory Coast international move to? Well, football.london takes a look at possible options for Pepe.

Newcastle United

Recent reports in France, via Team Talk, claimed that Newcastle United are interested in signing Pepe.

The Magpies were taken over for £300m earlier in the season and have now become the wealthiest outfit in the Premier League - with the January transfer window set to be an extremely busy one for Eddie Howe at his new club.

Newcastle have the talented Allan Saint-Maximin as an option on the wing, but bringing Pepe to St. James' Park could really strengthen Howe's squad.

Everton

The aforementioned reports from France also suggested that Everton hold a keen interest in the Arsenal winger.

Rafa Benitez is under some pressure as Toffees boss right now and with director Marcel Brands being sacked recently, the Everton manager is set to have more control over transfers from now on.

Benitez is said to be a keen admirer of Pepe and a January move for the Gunners outcast could be on the cards, despite the Spaniard having a host of options on the wing.

Crystal Palace

According to French news outlet Jeunes Footeux, via London News Online, Crystal Palace are interested in Pepe.

The report claims that the Eagles would prefer an initial loan deal for the 26-year-old, but with an option to buy included in the contract.

Return to France

Before Pepe signed for Arsenal, the winger was shining in France for Ligue 1 outfit Lille.

One way to get his career back on track, as we've seen with numerous players whose time in the Premier League has not worked out, would be return to the country where he has proven his worth in the past.
