Nicolas Pepe's Arsenal shirt number confirmed after completing £72m transfer

Arsenal have confirmed that Nicolas Pepe will wear the number 19 shirt next season.

The Ivorian winger has completed a club-record deal, joining the Gunners on a long-term contract.

Arsenal have been in pursuit of a winger throughout the summer and got their man after Lille agreed to receiving the transfer fee in installments.

Pepe completed his medical earlier this week and signed his paperwork on Thursday.

He becomes the holder of the No.19 shirt which was worn by goalkeeper Bernd Leno last season. He switched to the No.1 jersey following Petr Cech's departure.

Santi Cazorla, Jack Wilshere and Gilberto Silva are the other notable names to wear the shirt.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery said of the signing: "Nicolas is a highly-rated and talented winger who was wanted by many of the top teams in Europe.

"Signing a top-class winger has been one of our key objectives in this transfer window and I'm delighted he's joining.

"He will add pace, power and creativity, with the aim of bringing more goals to our team."
