Nicolas Pepe makes promise to Arsenal supporters following poor display against Man United

Nicolas Pepe has vowed that Arsenal supporters will soon see the best of him.

The Ivory Coast international became the Gunners' record signing during the summer transfer window having signed from Ligue 1 outfit Lille for a fee which could rise to £72m.

Having netted 23 goals as well as 12 assists in 41 appearances across all competitions last season, the 24-year-old certainly arrived at the Emirates Stadium to much fanfare and huge expectations.

And despite scoring once and weighing in with two assists in Arsenal colours, Pepe's overall performances so far this season have been somewhat underwhelming.

He came in for criticism from some Gunners fans and media alike for a poor showing in the 1-1 draw against Manchester United on Monday night where he was substituted with a quarter of the game remaining.

There has been comparisons to that of compatriot Gervinho.

While Man United legend Roy Keane has said that he's yet to be impressed with Pepe thus far and questioned the winger's body language in such a big game.

Luckily for Arsenal fans, Pepe accepts his form hasn't been good enough and puts a loss of confidence down to adapting to a new country.

Furthermore, he's said it won't take long before he is back to his best.

"It has not been easy, I must tell the truth," he told French radio station RMC. "My stats have not been good enough or my usual performances, it is not the same as Lille or the Liverpool game earlier in the season.

"My confidence must come back. I am not very worried. People may be worried about my statistics but I am not.

"I have to keep working as the level here is different so is the language. It is a new league for me and I must adapt quickly.

"But it won’t take very long."
