Former Arsenal player Paul Merson has laughed off Martin Odegaard’s future plans with the club.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Odegaard said: “We want to get back to European football this season, that would be important for the players, for the club and for the fans.

"Then hopefully with time win trophies, Champions League and hopefully win the league within a couple of years.”

Merson, who works as a pundit for Sky Sports claimed that Odegaard’s quote was outrageous and said: “If they can get into the top four within the next two years then they won’t be far off the Queen putting the sword on their shoulders. They will be getting honoured.”

Aaron Ramsdale made his Premier League debut for Arsenal after signing from Sheffield United in a £30m deal.

He has managed to keep two clean sheets in two games since signing for the club and had a big part to play in Arsenal getting their first win of the Premier League this season.

This led to praise from Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta who said: “"I think he was terrific.

It's not only what he did on the technical side, it's what he transmits, his energy, his chemistry with the backline, how he reacts, his body language. I think he was top.”

Bernd Leno will have to work hard to regain the starting goalkeeper spot after conceding nine goals in his opening three Premier League matches.

Nicolas Pepe deletes cryptic message on Instagram

Nicolas Pepe has changed his caption on Instagram after reacting to the clubs first league win of the season against Norwich.

He initially captioned the post “We are staying up!! Thank you Arsenal fans for all the support” this was in reference to Arsenal’s position at the bottom of the table and their matchup with nineteenth placed side, Norwich.

This caption has since been changed after rumblings on social media.

The Ivorian was awarded the man of the match award in the Gunners’ win on Saturday and played an instrumental part in the only goal of the game.
