Nicolas Pepe accused of "cheating" as Mikel Arteta's problems mount up at Arsenal

Nicolas Pepe has been accused of "cheating" Mikel Arteta by former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan after his latest performance for Arsenal.

The Gunners are on a woeful run of form and lost in the Carabao Cup quarter-final against Manchester City on Tuesday night.

Pepe came on in the second half after Gabriel Martinelli suffered an injury, but Jordan didn't like what he saw from the £72million man.

In an message to Arteta, Jordan has warned that this current crop of Arsenal players will get him sacked, and that the Spaniard isn't getting value for money where Pepe is concerned.

"I know I made the observation that ultimately managers get themselves sacked. But this group of players will get him sacked," said Jordan on talkSPORT.

"I am looking at their performances, I am looking at what they are putting out on the pitch and I think they are cheating, some of these players.

"They are cheating the club and they are cheating their manager."

Singling out Pepe, Jordan added: "I think there is a distinct possibility unless he gets some proper support in terms of change of personnel in January, that this group of players will take him to the precipice of getting sacked.

"They are cheating, look at [Nicolas] Pepe.

"We all have our difficulties and challenges in life and football brings about its different challenges, but if that's a £72million footballer, then with due respect, I am a monkey's uncle because that is not worth the money.

"The way he strolled around in the second half and he showed no interest in the game."
