Nicola Sturgeon won't rule out closing bars and restaurants again if punters don't behave

Nicola Sturgeon hasn't ruled out closing down bars and restaurants again if people fail to follow the rules.

She spoke out at her daily briefing after saying she'd seen pictures on social media that made her "want to cry".

The First Minister was responding to concerns about an outbreak linked to a bar in Aberdeen over the weekend. It comes just days after another unrelated cluster was identified in the Greater Glasgow health board area and an outbreak at a Lanarkshire call centre.

When asked if she would consider reimposing restrictions on the hospitality industry, she insisted she will act if necessary to maintain the "delicate balancing act".

She explained: "It doesn't take much for that to be thrown off kilter, and if that happens, then we will, unfortunately.

"It's not something I want to do, we will have to consider further restrictions up to and including perhaps the further shutdown of premises like pubs and restaurants."

Ms Sturgeon announced a further six new cases confirmed in Glasgow in the last 24 hours brings the overall total to 5,000.

Across Scotland a 18 new positive cases have been confirmed, bringing the total number across Scotland to 18,694.
