Nicola Sturgeon 'won't be pressured' into lifting lockdown to fall in with England

Lockdown will continue in Scotland for another three weeks with Nicola Sturgeon insisting she won't be pushed into make a decision that could cost lives.

She says the infection rate is still too high to risk lifting restrictions to fall in line with any changes that the Prime Minister may announce on Sunday.

The First Minister revealed she's expecting a call from Boris Johnson later today, and hopes to persuade him to wait until all four nations are ready to make changes.

She said: "My preference is for all four UK countries to make changes together."

But she warned: "I won't be pressured into lifting restrictions."

Speaking at her daily briefing, Ms Sturgeon, said: "If the Prime Minister wants to go at different rate for England, that's his decision, and I'm not going to criticise that."

She explained that the infection curve is at different rates in different parts of the country.

However, she did offer a glimmer of hope for Scots, saying she is considering changing the restriction that allows people to exercise just once a day.

And she pointed out that the new three week lockdown is not inflexible and if evidence supports it, she make make further changes to restrictions during that period.

More information will be released about this in the coming days.
