Nicola Sturgeon wades in on Govan vs Kelvinbridge Glasgow Subway Twitter debate

A fierce debate has been raging in Glasgow about a topic that provokes very strong feelings - and Nicola Sturgeon has added her two cents to the pile.

We're talking, of course, about the question of which Subway station is the best.

Author Ross Sayers has been conducting polls on Twitter to try and get to the heart of the matter, asking people to select their favourite stops.

Ross, whose book 'Daisy on the Outer Line' is being released next month, clearly took it very seriously too - there were group stages that led to a dramatic quarter final showdown with Kelvinbridge, Kelvinhall, Buchanan St, Hillhead, Partick, St George's Cross, St Enoch and Govan.

And it was the head-to-head between Kelvinbridge and Govan that caused the most drama, with First Minister Nicola Sturgeon wading in.

In a tweet, she said: "Calling all Southsiders (and other sensible people) - #voteGovan in the World Cup of Glasgow Subway stops. #lightrelief"

Despite the endorsement, it wasn't enough to save Govan and the stop was narrowly beaten by Kelvingrove with just 51.7% of the vote.

Ross Sayers was clearly pleased by the First Minister's contribution, who responded, "The FM urging her 1m+ followers to vote for Govan (aka the Slushie capital of Scotland) to take out the bookies favourite Kelvinbridge was not, and I cannot stress this enough, on my 2020 bingo card. Good to have you aboard though, FM, I'll send you a copy of the book?"

We'll put it to you, folks. Was it the right decision to throw Govan to the kerb, or has there been a grave miscarriage of justice?
