Nicola Sturgeon urges Celtic vs Rangers Sky Sports decision to avoid gatherings for derby day

Nicola Sturgeon has urged Sky Sports to make Celtic vs Rangers free-to-air this weekend to avoid mass gatherings.

Both sets of supporters are restricted from watching the game in pubs and other people's households due to the current coronavirus guidelines.

And the First Minister feels fans would be less inclined to potentially break the rules if the derby was available free of charge from the TV giant.

Sturgeon said: "I really do strongly agree with Joan McAlpine and would encourage Sky Sports this weekend to make the Rangers vs Celtic match free to view for supporters.

"As a small but important contribution that they could make to help keep people safe right now.

"Enabling people to watch the match in the comfort and safety of their own home and reduce the temptation people who don't have access to pay-to-view services might have to go and watch the match somewhere else.

"So if anyone from Sky Sports is listening, I would encourage you to think about making the match free to view this weekend."
