What time Nicola Sturgeon is on today with Covid lockdown announcement

Nicola Sturgeon is set to provide an important update on Covid restrictions today ahead of lockdown easing next week.

The First Minister will deliver the update on behalf of the Scottish Government later today, with under a week until significant parts of the economy will begin to reopen on April 26.

It comes after the travel ban within Scotland was lifted earlier than planned, on April 16, allowing Scots to leave their local area for the first time in months.

The rules around meeting up outdoors were also changed, with groups of up to six people from six different households now allowed to meet up outside.

An updated levels table was also unveiled, which sets out Scotland's roadmap out of lockdown in more detail - including when large events will be able to go ahead.

What will be said at the update?

Nicola Sturgeon confirmed last week that the changes planned for April 26 were to go ahead. This will see the likes of pubs, cafes, restaurants, bars, further non-essential retail and gyms reopen.

The First Minister is expected to once again look ahead to these restrictions coming into force - though, it's not clear what further details she may give.

Nicola Sturgeon will also deliver an update on Scotland's progress in bringing the virus under control in Scotland and answer journalist's questions.

You can watch the update via a live broadcast on the Scottish Government's Twitter page. The update will take place at 12 noon.
