First Minister Nicola Sturgeon is set to hold an emergency press conference to the nation this evening after holding a last-minute Cabinet meeting about Christmas lockdown restrictions.
This afternoon England’s chief medical officer Chris Whitt y issued a statement saying that a new strain of coronavirus 'can spread more quickly' than the variant the world has been dealing with up until this point.
Both Nicola Sturgeon and Prime Minister Boris Johnson are holding separate press conferences later today.
Boris Johnson is currently announcing changes (4pm onwards) to the current Covid-19 restrictions in place in England over the festive season.
