Nicola Sturgeon unveils changes to lockdown as Scotland moves into phase two of route map

Scotland is to enter phase two of the country's route out of l ockdown, it was confirmed this lunchtime.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon confirmed changes to socialising both inside and outdoors.

But she said rules on sticking within five miles of your home will stay in place - apart from visiting some relatives.

In a big change, people shielding at home can now exercise outside, even playing golf and meeting another household from tomorrow.

But there was bad news for the hospitality sector as venues will have to hold off reopening pub beer gardens while "more work" is commissioned on the safety to do so.

In other major changes, Scots can meet up with members of two other households outdoors in groups of no greater than eight people from tomorrow.

You can also go indoors to use the bathroom - but making sure you clean the toilet thoroughly.

If living alone, you can form an "extended household group".

This means they can meet indoors without social distancing and stay overnight.

Public transport will begin operating extended services with face coverings mandatory on trains, subway, planes, enclosed ferries and taxis.

Under-fives will be exempt as will some people with breathing problems.

Retail premises of all sizes can reopen from June 29 as long as they have outdoor entrances and exits, but indoor shopping centres will stay closed for now.

Dentists will reopen from Monday for emergency work only while factories, workshops and research centres can reopen with flexible working where possible.

Outdoor businesses - such as zoos - will also reopen - but offices should not reopen for now.
