Nicola Sturgeon trolls England as First Minister issues cheeky Scotland reminder after Euro 2020 win

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon aimed a tongue-in-cheek jibe at England after they reached the European Championship quarter-finals as she reminded them they couldn't get the better of Scotland.

Gareth Southgate's side secured their first ever knockout win in the competition as they beat Germany 2-0 at Wembley thanks to goals from Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane.

That saw them through to the Euro 2020 quarter-finals where they'll face either Sweden or Ukraine in Rome on July 3.

And while the First Minister offered her congratulations to the Three Lions, she couldn't resist reminding them that they hadn't managed to beat Scotland.

Sturgeon wrote: "Congratulations England.

"Only one team still unbeaten by England so far in Euro 2020..."

Southgate's men were held to a 0-0 draw by Steve Clarke's side in the second group game, with the visitors having some chances to win the match.

Sadly for Scotland though the final match at Hampden brought a 3-1 loss against Croatia, which saw the national team finish bottom of the group.

England will be back at Wembley if they get past the quarter-finals, with Denmark or the Czech Republic awaiting in the semis.

And the final will also be in London, with the Three Lions hoping to emulate the World Cup they won on home soil in 1966.
