Nicola Sturgeon to review Scotland's coronavirus lockdown today

Nicola Sturgeon is set to give an update on Scotland's lockdown tiers today as part of the weekly review on restrictions.

The First Minister will speak to the Scottish Parliament shortly after 2pm today, where she will confirm the decisions made regarding the five tier coronavirus measures in place across the country.

Glasgow is one of 11 council areas that have been placed under Level 4 restrictions - the toughest possible measures in the system.

The other 10 are North and South Lanarkshire, West and East Dunbartonshire and Renfrewshire and East Renfrewshire, South and East Ayrshire, West Lothian and Stirling.

However, it is highly unlikely that any changes will be announced to Glasgow's Level 4 restrictions, with the First Minister previously stating that the rules for areas in this tier will be in place until December 11 as part of a planned "short, sharp shock" to bring down covid levels ahead of Christmas.

Yesterday's figures saw 369 new positive Covid-19 cases confirmed across the country.

133 of those were in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde area, with 49 in Lanarkshire.

Three deaths were also recorded, but the First Minister warned against the unusually low figures, citing a technical issue in the recording process over the last 24 hours.
