Nicola Sturgeon to give Covid-19 update in Scottish Parliament today

Nicola Sturgeon is set to deliver an important update on Scotland's battle against the coronavirus crisis in Parliament today (Wednesday).

The First Minister is set to comment on the latest figures in front of MSPs, before taking questions from the chamber.

Today's update will be the first since the summer break, with Nicola Sturgeon's last announcement confirming the lifting of Level 0 Covid-19 restrictions across Scotland. She has however delivered a number of Covid-19 briefings in the period since.

There have been no major changes with regards to restrictions since August 9, however the country has seen a huge spike in cases in recent weeks. Across the previous seven days the record for the highest number of cases has been beaten three times, with 7,113 reported on Sunday (August 29).

Yesterday, the Scottish Government advised a further 6,029 cases had been recorded.

Here's everything you need to know about Nicola Sturgeon's update.

What time will Nicola Sturgeon speak today?

The First Minister is set to speak in the Scottish Parliament at around 2.50pm, however this could be delayed depending on any other business being discussed beforehand.

As per usual, the First Minister is due to provide a short statement before she responds to questions from MSPs.
