Nicola Sturgeon to announce new lockdown easing dates today

Nicola Sturgeon will announce further dates for easing lockdown today (Wednesday, June 24).

She revealed yesterday afternoon her plan lay out a timetable for the next round of changes to her road map out of lockdown.

No details have been release on what areas she'll discuss, however, outdoor pubs and restaurants, visits to care homes and many NHS services are waiting to be given the green light to restart.

She said: She said: "I'll be able to provide further detail on the timing of some of the specific steps in that journey.

"I'll be able to do so tomorrow ahead of when I thought just a few days ago that might be possible."

The First Minister also confirmed at her daily briefing today she'll also review Scotland's two metre social distancing advice next month.

She's appointed a special advisory group to review evidence that could lead to a reduction to one metre, in line with the new rule announced in England today.

It is due to report to her on July 2.

The latest news comes just days after Ms Sturgeon started the phased introduction of the second part of her lockdown lifting plan last Thursday.

Just yesterday construction work, dentists, professional sport, churches, colleges and universities restarted in a limited capacity.

And next Monday thousands of shops will reopen for the first time in three months along with outdoor markets.

The housing market will also resume as will small weddings and civil partnerships. Outdoor sports courts and playgrounds will also re-open.
