Nicola Sturgeon thanks Brewdog boss for offering to turn pubs into vaccine centres

Pub chain Brewdog has offered to lend the NHS it's bars to use as vaccination hubs.

Nicola Sturgeon offered her thanks earlier today after the brewer suggested the closed venues would be ideal spots to administer jabs.

The craft beer company's James Watt says large on-site fridges and waiting areas would be given over free.

He tweeted Ms Sturgeon and UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock saying: "We would like to offer our closed BrewDog venues to help with a quick roll out of the vaccine. For free.

"We have waiting areas, huge refrigerators, seperate rooms for vaccinations and an ace team who can help organise.

"We want to help."

Ms Sturgeon replied: "Thank you. I'll pass this on to our vaccination team."

BrewDog operates bars across the country, including Merchant City and Kelvingrove in Glasgow.

A spokeswoman for the company said: "We are excited to work with the government to do all we can to help with a fast and effective vaccine rollout and we would like to thank Nicola Sturgeon for getting in touch so quickly."
