Nicola Sturgeon snapped at Edinburgh cafe after getting trim as lockdown eases

We all love a good coffee break and Scotland's First Minister is no exception, dropping by an Edinburgh cafe to get her caffeine-fix this week.

Nicola Sturgeon was snapped in Leith, at bustling The Shore area, where she grabbed a hot drink takeaway from popular cafe, Toast.

A post on Toast's Twitter read: "A new barista in training today! She was popular with the customers so can definitely come back again."

The First Minister had been in the area, after getting her first haircut of the year at Beehive Hair Salon, just off Leith Walk, as lockdown restrictions in Scotland eased, allowing hairdressers and barbers to open.

The politician got a fresh cut and colour at Julie McGuire’s hair salon on Monday as hairdressers and barbers reopened - and was more happy than to show it off outside the cafe afterward, posing for a smiling photo.

Nicola Sturgeon's hair has been the subject of some debate, with Sir Digby Jones, who sits in the House of Lords, taking a jab at Scotland's leader last year.

He suggested that she had flouted lockdown rules to get her hair done, writing on Twitter: ""Something that’s concerning me: how come with enforced social distancing, Nicola Sturgeon’s hair is immaculate?

"All done herself? Always? I think we should be told! C’mon Nicola! All your own work? Surely not! One rule for the rulers..."

Though, Ms Sturgeon was quick to clap back at the unfounded claims and was more than happy to point out that she felt her hair was clearly not up to salon standards.
