Nicola Sturgeon slams Boris Johnson after PM said devolution was 'disaster' for Scots

Nicola Sturgeon has slammed Boris Johnson after its alleged that the Prime Minister dubbed devolution 'north of the border' a 'disaster'.

The Johnson comment emerged following a Zoom call with Tory MPs on Monday evening.

It's claimed he said devolution was also 'Tony Blair's biggest mistake'.

The claim was made in an article by The Sun on Monday.

It read: "He said that 'devolution has been a disaster north of the border' and it was 'Tony Blair's biggest mistake'.

"Admitting he thought it was a good idea when he was Mayor of London, he told MPs he did not currently 'see a case' handing down more powers from Westminster to the nations."

Quick to retaliate a fuming Sturgeon took to social media urging Scots to 'bookmark' alleged comments made by the PM.

The First Minister wrote on Twitter: "Worth bookmarking these PM comments for the next time Tories say they’re not a threat to the powers of the Scottish Parliament - or, even more incredibly, that they support devolving more powers.

"The only way to protect and strengthen the Scottish Parliament is with independence."

Scots Tory MP for Moray, Douglas Ross, dived into the heated online debate.

While refuting Mr Jonhson's alleged 'disaster' claim, he berated Ms Strugeon for her party's 'non-stop obsession with another referendum'.

Mr Ross wrote: "Devolution has not been a disaster.

"The SNP’s non-stop obsession with another referendum - above jobs, schools and everything else - has been a disaster."
