Nicola Sturgeon set to announce new restrictions for 'circuit breaker' lockdown tomorrow

Scotland's First Minister is set to announce new restrictions on Wednesday amid much anticipation.

Meeting with the Scottish cabinet today, Nicola Sturgeon is due to discuss tighter measures to curb the spread of Covid-19.

The First Minister is then expected to make an announcement on restrictions at the Scottish Parliament on Wednesday at 3pm.

It comes as the Sun revealed that doctors have been warned a circuit breaker lockdown lasting two weeks will start "at 7pm on Friday".

During Tuesday's daily coronavirus briefing, Nicola Sturgeon said she will look at the evidence and data to make a decision on what measures "may or may not make a difference".

When pressed on how much notice the Scottish Government will give ahead of new restrictions, the First Minister said she hoped she could give the public at least "a couple of days".

Meanwhile, Scotland's clinical director, Jason Leitch, has already told the BBC that a "short, sharp" circuit breaker lockdown could buy Scotland time in the fight to curb the spread of infections.
