Nicola Sturgeon sends special message to schoolgirl making everyone smile with lockdown videos

A schoolgirl who has been lifting people's spirits with her hilarious lockdown videos has received a special video message from Nicola Sturgeon.

Seven-year-old Krista has made dozens of adorable videos throughout lockdown, full of singing, dancing and plenty of jokes, which has amassed thousands of followers through her Facebook page 'Kool Krista'.

Speaking to Glasgow Live, Krista's mum Carolann Smillie said: "She's been doing these videos for 95 days now.

"Every morning we come up with something new. She loves it - she loves making people smile.

"Some of the messages I've had through are amazing. Saying she's helped get them through lockdown and really helped people."

And now, Krista's videos have even got the attention of the First Minister, who delivered a special message to her.

Carolann said: "Buzzing isn't the word! Krista was so excited.

"She won a competition called Lanarkshire's Got Talent and got £1,000 from it, and donated half to the NHS. She said that the message from Nicola Sturgeon was even better than winning.

"The fact she took the time to send that through was amazing.

"It's so nice to know that a wee girl that wanted to make a few people smile has had such a big impact."
