Nicola Sturgeon seen leaving home after husband Peter Murrell spotted for first time since arrest amid SNP finance probe

Nicola Sturgeon has been spotted leaving her home as the probe into the SNP finances continues. The former First Minister was snapped outside the property in Uddingston, near Glasgow, that she shares with husband Peter Murrell.

Sturgeon, who was wearing dark jeans and a flower-patterned blouse, grinned as she closed the door behind her. The ex-SNP chief, 52, got into a black Volvo, which was then driven away.

It comes after her husband, Peter Murrell, was seen for the first time since his arrest and release in connection with the party finances investigation.

The 58-year-old former SNP chief executive was seen leaving his home in a car this morning.

It comes after Murrell spent over 11 hours in police custody being questioned by detectives over the party's funding and finances on April 5.

He was released later that day pending further investigation. During his arrest, a number of addresses were searched in connection with his arrest, including the home he shares with former First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon.

Their property was cordoned off by police while a CID tent was erected in their garden. Officers later seized an SNP "battle bus" from the home of Murrell's mother, which is now lying in a police yard in Glasgow.

Murrell's first sighting in public comes a day after the arrest of former SNP treasurer Colin Beattie, who was also arrested in connection with Police Scotland's investigation into the SNP's finances. The 71-year-old was released without charge pending further investigation.

He went on to resign last night, telling First Minister Humza Yousaf he would be “stepping back” from the role as he believed he had become a “distraction”.
