Nicola Sturgeon says working from home will continue to be the 'default'- how has it affected you?

No date has been set for the reopening of non-essential offices, call centres and other workplaces in Scotland.

In a speech last month, Nicola Sturgeon said: “We are not yet setting a date for the reopening of call centres and non-essential offices.

"We will review this again at the next review point but for now working from home will remain the default position.

“I know that many office workers are missing their colleagues and many are keen to resume a more normal daily routine, I know some businesses, however well they are managing to work virtually, will want more of their employees to meet and work together.

"And I am acutely aware of the impact of home working on cafes and services based in areas with lots of office workers."

We're interested in finding out just what that impact has been, so in partnership with InYourArea.co.uk and Fish4Jobs.co.uk, we are running a nationwide survey to find out how your work life, and home life, have changed through the lockdown.

Working from home - or being off work entirely - might have become the 'new normal', but in many ways it hasn't been easy.

At the peak of the pandemic, 9.5million people were furloughed and around 50 per cent of people were working from home - where previously no more than 30 per cent had tried it, according to figures from the Office of National Statistics (ONS).

A third of us worked shorter hours thanks to the new arrangements, while a third worked for longer.

We want to help the country find out whether Scots are still working from home; how Scottish companies have grown, shrunk or disappeared and what people in Scotland think about everything from job security to commuting.

We’ll find out whether working from home has saved you money, and whether you feel safe returning to your workplace - and we’ll also be asking questions about how much you now use local services compared to city centre retailers.

Answer a few quick questions in our survey to help work out how the world of work has changed in the last six months - and what the future could hold.
