- Nicola Sturgeon has opened up about the end of her marriage to Peter Murrell, saying there was “more” to it than his alleged crimes.
- Murrell, the SNP’s chief executive for more than two decades, has been charged with embezzling £460,000 of SNP funds and is due to face trial in May.
- Ms Sturgeon said while that was a factor, the divorce was also driven by “going into a new phase of life where I want to find out a bit more about who I am as a person, not just as a politician”.
- During the interview on ITV’s The Assembly, the former Scottish first minister also spoke emotionally about her guilt over her miscarriage at 40.
- She also alluded to a potential recent "secret rendezvous" and a possible new relationship.
