Nicola Sturgeon says Scotland's covid numbers 'a big concern' amid 'huge pressure' on NHS

Nicola Sturgeon says the spike in the number of covid cases throughout Scotland is a 'big concern' as she admitted there is 'huge pressure' on the NHS.

The First Minister Tweeted the bleak warning shortly after the Scottish Government announced another 93 coronavirus-related deaths have been recorded across the country.

A further 1,865 positive covid cases have been recorded, 487 of which are in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde area, with 305 in Lanarkshire.

1,596 people are currently in hospital with coronavirus, including 109 in intensive care.

In response, Nicola Sturgeon is once more urging Scots to 'Stay Home' in a bid to prevent the further spread of the virus.

She commented: "Covid case numbers still a big concern and putting huge pressure on the NHS, as hospital and ICU cases increase.

"Also, 93 further deaths remind us just how dangerous the virus can be - my thoughts are with all those grieving.

"To save lives and protect the NHS, please #StayHome."
