Nicola Sturgeon says 'parks should not be full' urging Scottish Government advice 'is not optional'

Nicola Sturgeon has told Scots government advice is not optional, and instead is a set of rules to be followed.

Speaking at a press conference arranged for 2.30pm this afternoon, the First Minister insisted 'parks should not be full', as many in Scotland continue to ignore social distancing guidelines.

Her message comes as the number of deaths from coronavirus in Scotland reached double figures, with 10 confirmed this afternoon.

Meanwhile, in the Glasgow and Greater Clyde region, a further 20 cases have been confirmed, at 130, up from 110 on Saturday.

The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Scotland currently stands at 416, a rise of 43 from yesterday's figures.

The First Minister said today: "Life shouldn't feel normal right now, so if your life still feels entirely normal, ask yourself, are you doing the right things?

"Let me be clear, the advice should not be seen as optional. It should be seen instead as a set of rules to be followed. To protect Scotland we must all do the right thing."

"Don't gather for parties in people's houses or in groups for wedding receptions and other celebrations.

"When you go outside, and of course it's ok to be outside, don't crowd together in the park or on the beach because that can be almost as dangerous as going to the pub. Beaches should not be busy. Parks should not be full."
