Nicola Sturgeon's sister Gillian has posted an emotional picture after the First Minister's shock resignation earlier today.
The First Minister confirmed she will stand down at a press conference this morning.
Taking to social media this evening, Gillian seemed to back her famous sibling's decision to resign after eight years in the role.
Posting a picture of the pair together, Gillian wrote: "What a day that was."
A heartbroken Sturgeon fan was quick to comment.
She said: "Why? If she goes we are screwed.
"She's the only one who can do what she does and put us first."
Gillian seemed confident- with her sister's decision and replied: "She has to put herself first now."
Gillian also thanked supporters for all their messages and comments throughout the day.
She said: "Thanks all. Getting a wee surprise visit from her later for a massive hug."
The First Minister spoke at a hastily-organised press conference at her official residence in Edinburgh this morning.

She said: "I am proud to stand here as the first female and longest serving incumbent of this office and I am very proud of what has been achieved in the years I’ve been blessed to do this.
"However, since the very first moment in the job, I have believed that part of serving well would be to know, almost instinctively, when the time is right, to make way for someone else.
"And when that time came, to have the courage to do so, even if to many across the country and in my party, might feel it too soon.
"In my head and in my heart I know that time is now. That it is right for me, for my party and for the country. And so today I am announcing my intention to step down as First Minister and leader of my party.”
Sturgeon said her resignation as First Minister "frees the SNP" on the issue of Scottish independence "to choose the path it believes to be the right one without worrying about the perceived implications for my leadership".
And she insisted her decision to resign as First Minister "is not a reaction to short-term pressures".
