Nicola Sturgeon's sister left 'black and blue' after fall that 'could have killed her'

Nicola Sturgeon's sister was left 'black and blue' after suffering a horror fall during a night out in Glasgow.

Gillian Sturgeon, 46, says she's lucky to be alive after she tripped and hit her face on a pavement leaving with a concussion and a broken nose last Friday.

The psychic-medium says she took the plunge after her heel caught on the pavement.

Telling her social media followers about the incident, she insisted the fall "could have killed her" as she hit her head on the ground.

Gillian, from Irvine in North Ayrshire, said: "I don't remember much after but was told my heel caught on the pavement.

"I fell forward and bashed my face. Never felt pain like it.

"My face is horrendous. Can’t open one eye and got the lip fillers on one half of my lip I always wanted.

"Seriously, half my face is black and blue."

Gillian says the accident happened following a "respectable meal and wine", insisting it wasn't a "wild night".

She spent four hours in a ward at the city's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital as she was dosed with morphine for the pain.

In a series of posts to her followers on Facebook she revealed that she has been struggling to come to terms with her appearance following the incident.

She said: " I was having a nice respectable meal and wine. Nothing reckless. Nothing wild. A freak accident that could have killed me. I've never felt pain like this.

Gillian says she has been left in tears at her appearance (Facebook)

"Pain has been horrendous and the emotions not good.

"I need to keep reminding myself this is temporary, well some is.

"I can’t look in mirror without crying. I feel detached from me. I don’t feel like me."

The First Minister's younger sister sells tarot readings to her online fans.

Gillian also runs a make-up business and a kid’s party venture over social media, but says she might have to reschedule some work due to the accident.
