Charges against the Nicola Sturgeon's sister have been dropped following an alleged ‘domestic incident’ in Ayrshire.
Gillian Sturgeon was arrested by cops on August 11 after they were alerted to an incident at an address in Kilwinning four days previously.
The 46-year-old later issued a public statement saying that the ‘truth will prevail’.
Officers also arrested a 50-year-old man in connection.
The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service have confirmed that the case remains live and that the decision to prosecute could change.
A spokesperson said: “This matter remains live for the purposes of the Contempt of Court Act 1981.
“In order to protect any future proceedings and to preserve the rights of the complainers, the Crown will not comment at this stage.”
Police Scotland previously confirmed that two people had been charged in connection with the incident and were due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court.
