Nicola Sturgeon's lockdown tiers for Scotland revealed today as 5-level plan starts on November 2

Nicola Sturgeon will confirm which level each local authority will be placed in as part of the new five-tier coronavirus restrictions today.

The First Minister will announce the decision at FMQ's this afternoon.

The Scottish Government has based their decisions on advice from their advisers and the national incident management team and have consulted with local authorities.

Ms Sturgeon indicated on Tuesday which level each area will initially be placed in from Monday.

Based on those comments, Glasgow and the rest of the central belt is expected to begin in Level 3 - which is broadly similar to the measures currently in place.

There would be a ban on in-home meetings but pubs, restaurants and cafés will be allowed to open until 6pm for food and non-alcoholic drinks.

Discussions are still ongoing about whether North and South Lanarkshire will have to be placed in Level 4 initially until the situation there begins to stabilize.

The First Minister said that some improvements have been seen in recent days and hoped that introducing the toughest measures could be avoided.

Decisions on the levels will be reviewed every week but Level 2 and Level 3 are expected to last at least three weeks each, due to the incubation period of the virus

As previously reported by Glasgow Live , the health board's hospitals hit 90% capacity on October 21 with 220 patients with confirmed Covid-19.

17 wards in Greater Glasgow and Clyde have been closed to new admissions due to the virus. Hospitals are treating 609 Covid-19 patients in the region.

Scotland is now just a few hundred hospital admissions short of reaching the same figure as the peak in April.
