Nicola Sturgeon's lockdown level decision for East Lothian and Midlothian

East Lothian will have lockdown restrictions eased from tomorrow moving from Level three to Level two.

They will see restrictions lifted 6am on Tuesday 24 November.

But Midlothian will remain in tier three despite hopes it too could move down a tier.

The Scottish Government tweeted: "From 6am on Tuesday 24 November, #coronavirus protection Level 2 will apply to East Lothian.

"Due to an increase in coronavirus cases, Midlothian will remain in Level 3."

It comes as the area reported an increase in Coronavirus cases over the past few days causing 'concern'.

At level two in Scotland, people are still banned from meeting more than one household indoors. People can meet outdoors up to a maximum of six from two separate households.

Pubs and restaurants can open with the sale of alcoholic drinks with main meals. Last entry is 7pm and venues should be closed by 8pm.

Restaurants, cafes, pubs and bars can open outdoors for food and alcoholic drinks, with a 10.30pm curfew. A meal is not required to buy alcohol outdoors at level two.

Most leisure and entertainment will stay shut, including soft plays and nightclubs. But any cinemas and bingo halls in a level two region can open.

Indoor and outdoor visitor attractions including museums and heritage centres can open.

Speaking during the Scottish Government's Covid-19 update earlier today Nicola Sturgeon said: "Last week we indicated that East Lothian and Midlothian - if there was no deterioration in their positions - would, from tomorrow, move down from Level 3 to Level 2.

"I can confirm that this will go ahead for East Lothian.

"However, the national incident management team has expressed some concern this morning about a rise in cases and test positivity over the past few days in Midlothian.

"So we will be considering that further this afternoon and we will confirm the position in relation to Midlothian later."

The Scottish Government tweeted confirming  that Midlothian would remain in tier three at 6.30pm.
