Nicola Sturgeon's husband Peter Murrell shares the First Minister's efforts at cutting her own hair

Nicola Sturgeon has swapped First Minister for makeshift hairdresser as she looks to keep her hair under control during the coronavirus lockdown.

The SNP leader put herself right in the deep end by picking up a pair of scissors to cut away at her own hair.

Husband Peter Murrell was happy to help but says she turned down his offer.

The Chief Executive of the SNP captioned a photo of a pair of scissors next to a portrait of her First Minister wife, saying: “Today’s the day Mrs M.”

He continued: “And lo, I’ve been stood down in favour of a video call with trusted hair stylist Julie McGuire.”

Another picture shows Sturgeon covered in her own locks as she brandishes the scissors in her right hand.

“Desperate for a shot of the scissors, but seemingly I’m not to be trusted”, Peter Murrell continued.

A number of Scots have already opted to give their head a close shave as the country enters into the week three of the lockdown.

Hairdressers are among the businesses that have closed under government legislation as officials look to slow the spread of Covid-19 in Scotland.
