All Nicola Sturgeon's new dates for reopening Scotland after today's big announcement

Scots can look forward to a haircut, a pint and a nice dinner in the coming weeks after Nicola Sturgeon announced the key dates for easing lockdown.

Hairdressers, pubs, restaurants and tourism were all given dates to plan their reopening, along with nurseries, shopping malls and organised sports for kids.

The First Minister made the major announcement in the Scottish Parliament this afternoon.

However, she cautioned that the roll out of the next phase of her road map out of lockdown is entirely dependent in the country's continued suppression of Coronavirus.

She explained: "The sacrifices that have been made have suppressed the virus – though I know how hard and at times painful they have been. They have also protected the NHS, and  they have undoubtedly saved a significant number of lives.

"They have also brought us to the position where we can now look ahead with a bit more clarity to our path out of lockdown.

"But let me stress that each step on this path depends on us continuing to beat the virus back.

"If we don’t do that, we can’t take these steps forward. And if the virus starts to spread  again, the steps we have already taken may need to be reversed.

"That is what we must do absolutely everything in our power to avoid.

"That means continuing with the careful approach that has brought us to where we are now."

The dates are as following:

July 3 - the five mile travel distance relaxed; visiting self-catering accommodation and second homes (without shared facilities) permitted

July 6 - outdoor hospitality, including beer gardens to reopen.

July 10 - people can meet in extended groups outdoors; people can meet indoors with up to a maximum of two other households

July 13 - organised outdoor contact sports can resume for children and young people; all dental practices begin to see registered patients for non-aerosol routine care; increasing capacity within community optometry practices for emergency and essential eye care; non-essential businesses in shopping malls can re-open

July 15 - all holiday accommodation can operate; pubs, restaurants and indoor hospitality can return hairdressers and barbers reopen; museums, galleries, cinemas, monuments, libraries open; all childcare providers can open

The next phase three reviews are expected to take place on July 9 and 23 where advice should be issued on the return to work of non-essential offices and call centres.

Further information will also be released on the phased return of universities and colleges as well as easing of restrictions on weddings and funerals.

Dates for restarting live events, indoor gyms, nightclubs, bingo, theatre and music venues are subject to additional public health advice.
