Nicola Sturgeon responds to woman pleading with parents to stay at home during Eid in lockdown

Nicola Sturgeon sent a response to a woman after she pleaded with the First Minister to convince her parents to stay home during Eid.

This weekend Scottish Muslims are celebrating Eid, a religious celebration which is often enjoyed with large family gatherings.

However one Scots woman had a hard time explaining to her parents that due to the lockdown this year, they wouldn't be able to see friends and family - so she decided to reach out to the First Minister herself.

Writer Amna Saleem posted her dilemma on social media showing that she was having some issues communicating the stay at home message to her parents.

According to Amna, her mother and father thought Nicola Sturgeon would approve of them visiting some friends and family during the celebration.

After Amna's dad asked her to ask the First Minister what she thinks, the writer decided to do just that.

In a separate tweet, Amna pleaded with the First Minister to convey the stay at home message to them.

Amna asked Nicola Sturgeon "can you tell my parents they can’t go play with their friends just yet pls?"

To her surprise, the First Minister made it very clear how she stood on the issue, wishing her family a happy Eid but asking them to "please please #StayAtHome"
