Nicola Sturgeon reacts to 'dreadful news' after Kilmarnock horror sees three people die

Nicola Sturgeon has reacted to the "dreadful news" from Kilmarnock this morning after the deaths of three people were confirmed.

The First Minister tweeted her thoughts to those bereaved and everyone dealing with the incident at Crosshouse Hospital.

A 39-year-old woman died from injuries sustained at Crosshouse at around 7.45pm last night.

Around 20 minutes later, a 24-year-old woman was stabbed and died a short time later at Portland Street in the town centre.

And around 8.30pm, a 40-year-old male was pronounced dead at the scene after his vehicle was involved in a horror smash near the A76.

Tweeting this morning, Ms Sturgeon said: "Dreadful news. My thoughts are with the bereaved.

"Thinking too of everyone at Crosshouse Hospital, already dealing with the tough circumstances of Covid.

"I'm also grateful to our emergency services.

"Please continue to follow @policescotland advice."
