Nicola Sturgeon promises more detail later this week on timetable out of lockdown

More detail on Scotland’s route out of lockdown will come later this, Nicola Sturgeon has said.

Speaking at her daily briefing the First Minister said she hoped to be able to give an indication of the dates when specific changes can be expected.

It came as she reported no further deaths from coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

Nicola Sturgeon said the progress made on tackling the virus allowed for more clarity on indicative dates on the route out of lockdown.

But she warned that acting cautiously remained important, saying that “acting recklessly now would be a serious mistake”.

“The virus hasn’t gone away, there are already countries – China and Germany for example – that are right now dealing with spikes in cases as a result of significant outbreaks.

"And health officials in South Korea have said they think the country is now experiencing a second wave.

“I know that when numbers of cases and deaths here are continuing to fall it is very tempting for all of us to think it is all over and we should just now quickly get back to normal.

“We are trying to get back to normal and we want to do that as quickly as possible, but let me reiterate my strong view that acting recklessly now would be a serious mistake."

She said acting cautiously and following public health advice would leave the country in a "stronger" position in the Winter months.

The First Minister said 18,170 people have tested positive for the virus in Scotland, up by 14 from 18,156 the day before.

There are 867 people in hospital with confirmed or suspected Covid-19, an increase of 66.

Of these patients, 15 were in intensive care, down by one.
