Nicola Sturgeon: 'Lockdown is not over, but say hi to your family'

The First Minister has outlined a number of changes to the lockdown, but insists that the virus has not yet gone away.

The changes mean that from Friday two households can now meet up outdoors, in groups of a maximum of eight, while still maintaining a two metre distance.

You can also sunbathe in local parks, and recreational sports such as golf and tennis will be able to be played.

But Ms Sturgeon has stressed the government's "strong advice" was not to travel more than five miles for "recreation or leisure".

It comes ahead of a weekend of predicted warm and sunny weather.

The First Minister also strongly reminded everyone that the battle against Coronavirus is far from over, and that the only way to beat it is to continue adhering to the lockdown rules and procedure.

The SNP leader admitted that she felt 'a bit nervous' as she begins to ease the restrictions slightly from tomorrow.

Garden centres and plant nurseries are among the businesses able to reopen from tomorrow, while recycling centres will reopen from Monday.

But, businesses are still being strongly advised to allow workers to work from home, where possible.
