Nicola Sturgeon launches FACTS public information campaign - but what does it mean?

Nicola Sturgeon has today called on all Scots to learn the latest lockdown rules as the country enters phase two of easing restrictions.

The First Minister admitted the latest regulations may appear complex to some - but said it was a collective responsibility to understand them.

"It's more important now for all of us to know and remember the different things that we need to do to stay safe," the SNP leader said today.

A new public information called FACTS  - with each letter a reminder of the key measures Scots must comply with - has been unveiled to assist the public.

F:  Face coverings must be worn in crowded places such as shops, and always when using public transport

A:  Avoid crowded places wherever possible

C:  Clean your hands and hard surfaces in your house regularly

T:  Two-metre social distancing is required whenever you are outside meeting others or in shops

S:  Self-isolate at home if you develop the symptoms of Covid-19

Sturgeon continued: "I am very aware this next phase is, in some ways, might be even harder because we see the virus is receeding.

"All of us have an understandable frustration at still having to live under restrictions: we think why can't we go back to normal?

"But the thing is, we can't afford at this stage to be complacent. The virus is still out there. It hasn't gone away. If we removed the restrictions that have kept it under control, the risk is allow it to start circulating again.

"That's why we need to continue moving in the right direction."
